Certification

To be paid correctly on the pay-grid, OSSTF members need to apply for their Certification Rating Statement through QECO.
Any course upgrades that change a members category for pay need to be submitted to the board ASAP and by the deadlines indicated below to have their pay adjusted and receive appropriate retro-active pay.

OSSTF members can receive their Certification Rating Statement through QECO, the Qualifications Evaluation of Ontario.  Members apply for their initial rating statement to ensure that you are paid correctly on the salary grid.  QECO also provides recommendations for course pathways (i.e. honours specialist or three-part specialists) that you may take to move across the grid.

  • For courses completed prior to September 1, updated rating statements are due to the board by December 31st to receive pay retroactive to September 1st.

    • If you do not think you will receive your paper work on time to meet the December 31st deadline "through no fault of the teacher", a Notice of Expected Change form with an explanation of the delay in filing the new Certification Rating Statement must be filed with the Board by December 1 of that year. Failing this, the salary increase shall be made effective on the 1st day of the month following the month in which the new Certification Rating Statement was filed with the Board."

  • For courses completed prior to January 1, updated rating statements are due to the board before May 1st.  to receive pay retroactive to January 1st.

    • Salary increases for OSSTF members received on or after May 1st, will be effective the following September.​
