Feb 14: Action Item
In response to the nearly 18% OCT Fee increase, on February 8, the OTF launched a Send My Email tool for Members to send an email to the OCT Governing Council in protest of the fee increase and demanding that the fee increase be reversed and for members to receive a refund of the difference in the increase.
D16 T/OT members are encouraged to take the 30 seconds needed to complete this action.
Feb 1: February is Black history month, although teaching Black History in culturally responsive ways occurs 365 days a year.
February 1, 2023, will mark the 28th anniversary of the celebration of Black History Month in Canada. This year’s theme is “Ours to Tell.” OSSTF/FEESO encourages all educators to raise their awareness, reflect, and amplify the experiences of Black Canadians in their daily practice.
Ways to celebrate Black History and Culture can include,
-
supporting Black businesses,
-
celebrating with cross-curricular activities,
-
sponsoring or donating to a Black community initiative,
-
reviewing OSSTF/FEESO’s publication – Canadian Black Lives,
-
learning about Black innovators, and
-
exploring your local Black historical sites.
